How PlotDR screening works
What a check does
You submit a plot geometry. We query it against a fixed set of open satellite datasets: Hansen/UMD tree-cover loss (with its 2000 canopy-density baseline), GLAD and RADD deforestation alerts, and the SBTN Natural Lands map. Confirmed forest loss after December 31, 2020 (the EUDR cutoff date) is the only signal that produces an automated non-compliant verdict. Alerts and other uncertain signals produce needs review, never an automated fail. No signals at all produces compliant.
That list is not everything we screen against, and not everything on it affects your verdict. Deforestation alerts (GLAD/RADD) and fire alerts (NASA FIRMS) can route a plot to needs review; the SBTN Natural Lands map is context only except where it coincides with tree-cover loss after 2020, which produces needs review, and several further layers are recorded in your report as context only. Our Terms of Service list every dataset we screen against and exactly what each one can do to a verdict.
What a check is not
This is a geospatial deforestation-free screening tool. It is one input to your own Article 10 risk assessment under the EU Deforestation Regulation, not a legality or human-rights check, and not a substitute for your own due diligence. It doesn't assess land-rights legality, labor conditions, or most of the non-geospatial criteria a full EUDR risk assessment covers. Treat a PlotDR report the way you'd treat any single input to a larger compliance process: necessary, not sufficient on its own.
Reports and exports
Every check produces a report you can view in the dashboard. Free-plan reports are watermarked; Pro and API Pro plans get watermark-free, TRACES-ready DDS exports (GeoJSON plus a supporting dossier), ready to attach to your due diligence statement.
